Columbine Seeds

Columbine seeds are small, shiny and black, but there's nothing depressing about their blooms! The star shaped blooms of Columbine open to a diameter of 2 to 3 inches wide, exposing a second set of tube shaped inner petals. They are perfect for insectaries and butterfly gardens, and will attract all sorts of bumblebees, honeybees and butterflies as well.

Other strains of Columbine, such as "Barlow Aquilegia" will appear slightly different in appearance, and can display rows and rows of petals, versus the usual star shape. Columbine plants often times mature to a height of 24 to 36 inches tall, making them an excellent choice for use as a backdrop plant in pots and containers. You can also sow Columbines directly in the garden, in raised beds, or along walkways and pathways too.
